Some of the "must-see places" in Palermo:
The Museo d'Arte islamica in the Castello della Zisa, the "Arabic-style" summer residence of the Norman kings of the 12th century which houses precious Islamic objects from the Mediterranean.
The Galleria Palazzo Abatellis, in one of the most representative buildings of Gothic-Catalan architecture. It documents the evolution of Sicilian figurative art from the 12th to the 18th century. Here is where the Vergine Annunziata di Antonello da Messina is kept.

· The Cathedral, a majestic and original cathedral started in the 12th century and remodeled until the 18th century making it an example of the eclectic artistic Sicilian style. "The Palazzo dei Normanni built in the 9th century over Punic and Roman ruins, with its interior Cappella Palatina, built in 1130 and covered by very beautiful Byzantine mosaics.
· The Botanical garden, created at the end of the 18th century and one of the most interesting of Europe for the richness of specimen from all vegetation areas of the world.
